Fire detection camera installed at Sawmill Peak!
Sharon Christensen, former President of the Sawmill Peak fundraising group Bare on the Ridge, with Chief David Hawks and his CalFire crew as they hang the appreciation plaque for all who contributed to the new camera-based fire detection system at Sawmill Peak. Congratulations to ALL who were involved in this project, including the many hard-working members of Bare On The Ridge!
Forest Watch Camera Systems
The Forest Watch Camera Systems operate in Butte County at Sawmill Peak and other prominent locations. These cameras have the ability to operate 360 days a year and 24 hours a day to watch for fires. Bare on the Ridge raised funds to install the Sawmill Peak camera. They also fund the on-going, monthly expenses related to this camera.
